About RCCG Rhema International Assembly

Welcome to the Workers’ Training and Development Platform of RCCG Rhema International Assembly, Huntsville, Texas, USA. We are a vibrant, multicultural community of believers passionate about empowering lives through the sound teaching of the Word of God.

Our Beginnings

RCCG Rhema International Assembly was birthed from the heartfelt desire of Pastor John
Okperuvwe to serve God wherever he was led. Immigrating from Nigeria to California in 2008,
he later relocated to Texas in March 2010. On September 5, 2010, with a vision and a small
gathering of seven—his immediate family and a neighbor—he launched the church’s first services
in his Huntsville living room.

Our Growth

As the African community in Huntsville expanded, largely due to employment opportunities in
the state prison system, so did our congregation. Services soon outgrew the initial space, moving
from a storefront on Sam Houston Avenue to a building accommodating around 250 people, often
filled to capacity on Sundays. This growth reflects the church’s welcoming spirit and the needs of
a thriving community.

Our Identity

Incorporated under The Redeemed Christian Church of God, a global network with parishes
worldwide, RCCG Rhema International Assembly is currently located at 316 16th St, Huntsville,
TX 77340. Our worship is a vibrant, multicultural experience, featuring praise in English,
Nigerian languages (such as Igbo, Yoruba, and Urhobo), and other African tongues (including
Ghanaian, Cameroonian, and Swahili). Blending traditional music with a strong sense of
community, we unite professionals from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and students
from Sam Houston State University in fellowship.

Our Mission

The name “Rhema International Assembly” embodies our commitment to the “Rhema” (Spoken
Word) principle, a cornerstone of Pentecostal/Word-Faith teachings. Our primary goal is to
empower lives through love and the sound teaching of God’s Word, fostering spiritual growth and
transformation.

Our Future

Over the years, God has blessed us with growth, and we are excited to announce that we have
acquired our own property, with plans to move in soon. This milestone marks a new chapter in
our journey.
